The Scott C3A “Inverted Jenny” is arguably America’s best known stamp among collectors.
A single sheet of 100 red and blue stamps was printed with an inverted airplane.
How could this happen? Where are those 100 stamps today and who was the lucky man
who purchased that single sheet? Who was Jenny? Ed will reveal the fascinating story of the error.

WSC member, Ken Lebow is our evening's speaker. Ken's presentation on "Fancy Cancels"
will provide us with a look at a number of unusual and, in some cases, rare cancels.

 

For those who plan to submit scavenger hunt entries please remember to bring them
with you and present them to our "eminent" Scavenger Hunt leader, Stephen Tauber. 

Results will be announced during the business meeting and awards presented to the winning entries.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY – Secret Santa gift swap and holiday refreshments

This will be our annual holiday meeting/party.  The Club will provide an assortment of
party snacks but if you'd like to bring a culinary treat you're welcome to do so.
Please contact Norm if you are bringing food.  In addition, we will hold our
annual Yankee Swap, an event many of us look forward to each year.

The "swap" item should cost or have a real value of $15-$20.
Philatelic items are preferred but not essential.
The gift should also be wrapped to disguise the true identity of the item.
You may wish to purchase something in the museum gift shop. 
Participation in the Yankee Swap is optional.
Don't stay home because you would prefer not to participate!

some very uncommon postal history by Jeff Shapiro, WSC member

and award winning exhibitor

Guest Speaker - "The Rodgers Aerial Post and the flight of the Vin Fiz" 

The Rodgers Aerial Post was an outcome from a 1911 attempt to complete
  a transcontinental flight attempted by Cal Rodgers while competing for
the Hearst Prize. The prize was a $50,000 award to the first person to complete
the flight, but there were stipulations.  This presentation will explore the
attempt by Cal Rodgers and the Vin Fiz Flyer to complete the transcontinental flight,
and the creation of an early air mail service and its associated philatelic history. 
The presentation will be given by Charlie Giorgetti.
